The moment you step into Kasthuri Nivasa, the charm unfolds before you. The intricate architecture, the thoughtfully placed furnishings, the elegantly designed pillars, and the playful dolls adorning the vicinity all weave a unique tapestry of ambience. Notably, the photographs of two renowned figures, the late Dr Rajkumar and the late Dr Puneeth Rajkumar, grace the walls, adding a touch of history and culture.
A peak into the service
Weekends often see a flood of patrons along the Mysore-Bangalore highway. Fortunately, my visit fell on a quieter weekday morning around 10:30 am. However, I couldn’t help but notice the leisurely pace of the staff, which led to a nearly 20-minute wait before I could place my order.
One can only imagine the scene on a bustling weekend. Overheard conversations of customers receiving orders different from what they expected and the repeated requests for cutlery revealed that the restaurant was grappling with understaffing.
My orders at Kasthuri Nivasa
My culinary journey began with a classic Masala Dosa, a dish I hadn’t savoured in quite a while. The dosa’s dimensions rivalled Vidyarthi Bhavan’s but maintained a delicate thickness. Crispy edges gave way to a pleasantly soft centre, complemented by a flavorful potato stuffing. Accompanied by a delectable coconut chutney and the quintessential sambar, this dish ticked the right boxes.
The Coffee Revelation
However, the true highlight of my experience lay in a simple cup of Filter Coffee. Priced at a mere Rs. 25, this coffee was a revelation for any coffee aficionado. So impressive was this brew that I’m already planning a return visit for its sake alone. If coffee runs in your veins, consider this a must-try on your gastronomic journey.
