Abirami Residency has a good rating both on Google Reviews and Trip Advisor. However, there are some not-so-pleasant reviews that I would ignore, considering some positive points I have come across.

Due to the last-minute change in our travel plans, we had to reach Pondy a day before. Our initial goal was to stay and explore Pondicherry for two days, and we booked our rooms at Ginger Hotel. Since the Ginger Hotel price increased during booking for the additional day, we opted to stay at Abirami Residency on day one.
We booked our rooms through “Make My Trip.” However, I suggest comparing prices and best offers on “Trip Advisor.”
Our Experience at Abirami Residency was good
Our experience at Abirami Residency Pondicherry was good from when we arrived at the property. There were no issues with the parking, with enough space at the entrance and a decent room in the basement.
The staff at the reception was friendly and welcoming, and our check-in to the room was quick. The reception area is decent, with cozy sofas to relax after a long journey. We had booked two rooms (one room with three beds), and they allocated us spaces on the second floor.
More positive than negative reviews
Even though I have nothing to complain about the property, I found some not-so-good reviews that guests had posted online (Google Reviews). After reading a couple of them, here’s what I suggest to enjoy the stay.
Due to the language barrier, the staff may be hesitant to talk. Stick to English if you don’t know the local language or the language they are comfortable with.
Call the hotel at least an hour before informing them about your arrival time so that you do not need to wait for check-in after your arrival.
If you don’t like the cuisine being served, there are more options outside. Check with the reception if you can order your food from outside (Swiggy).
Before entering the room, ask the staff if the air conditioner works fine and if hot water is available.
Consider giving explicit instructions to the staff about cleaning the room while you are away.
What I liked about Abirami Residency
We wanted to order some dish outside that was unavailable at the property. So they allowed us to order our food via Swiggy. However, I am unsure if they would let this all the time.
