Initially called “Meade’s Park,” it was later renamed Cubbon Park to honour Sir Mark Cubbon’s contributions to developing Bengaluru.

Cubbon Park was again renamed Sri Chamarajendra Park in memory of the 19th-century ruler of the Mysore Sri Chamarajendra Wodeyar (1868-94), during whose rule the park came into existence.
